The invention owes a lot to the leaf spring engineering that stabilizes pro race cars. It combines mechanical precision with durability and flexibility, so if the stems are opened a bit beyond their normal position, they spring right back.

You won’t have any inward pressure on your skull because Oakley made the fit secure by adding UNOBTAINIUM® stem sleeves for a secure grip. Oakley also made the nose pads adjustable so you can tweak the fit. This world-first comes with an Oakley collection case.

The latest Oakley breakthrough is a hinge mechanism that comes in two forms: MONO SHOCK and TWIN SHOCK, developed for Rx eyewear and sunglasses. Inspired by pro racing, the structures are similar to leaf springs used for shock absorption. MONO SHOCK has a single “tine” (a slender projecting part, like the tines of a fork) that bridges the frame and the ear stem. TWIN SHOCK utilizes two. Here are the key benefits:
